The Lewiston Art Festival turns 50 years old this year and its never been more vibrant! Planning for this landmark celebration has given me pause to reflect on the value of arts and culture to our community. Beyond the obvious economic benefits, a community with a thriving arts and cultural life is a livable community. It makes people want to stay here, instills community pride, creates a sense of place and builds connections among people. Lewiston without the arts would be static and sterile.
We are so fortunate to have both Town and Village Boards that have recognized the social and transformative value of the arts with sustained support that has helped to build a thriving cultural sector.
We hope you continue to experience and enjoy the quality cultural programs and activities we offer and facilitate throughout the County and please know that we recognize your role in supporting our efforts in making this happen. Thank you for supporting the arts in your own backyard.
Lewiston Council on the Arts brings creative talent and public appreciation together to create an artistic identity for the beautiful and historic Village of Lewiston. Located in Upstate New York along the shore of the Niagara River, our proximity to Canada encourages the bi-national interchange of artists and performers and contributes to the abundant cultural richness of the Niagara region. Lewiston is a 90 minute drive from Toronto, Ontario, less than an hour from Buffalo, and minutes from Niagara Falls, NY.
