Welcome to Lewiston Council on the Arts

On behalf of all of us at the Art Council we hope you and your families are in good health and spirits at this difficult time. Like many organizations, we have had to cancel or postpone several spring events e.g. the finale of Toast & Jam, the Literary Arts Café and a new concert with Darryl Tonemah and Friends. We are currently evaluating the situation and making decisions about the Summer of '69, Blue Monday Concert Series and Bug Fest. We are optimistically planning for the Art Festival (August 8 & 9) with hopes that the situation will have eased somewhat and we will be able to go ahead with the biggest event in our lineup…perhaps encouraging everyone to  wear artistic face masks!   We will continue to monitor the situation and consult with our Village leaders to make a determination in the best interest of everyone involved and will keep you informed as decisions are made.  You can also get updates here on our website and our Facebook page: Lewiston Arts Council - the purple icon!   In the meantime be kind, stay healthy…we're in this together…apart.   Irene & Eva & Kathryn & Tim

The Lewiston Art Festival is scheduled to take place on August 8th and 9th. As of now it is too early to know if it will take place or not. We will optimistically continue to plan as if it will. Please know that your health and safety is our top priority. As we address a pandemic that will no doubt become a chapter in the history books, our commitment to our artist community will not waiver. • We are extending the deadline for applications, and waiving late fees. • The Festival will work with all vendors who may need payment extensions. • If the Festival is cancelled, all booth fees will be refunded. • We will keep you informed of all new developments. We hope you will continue to support our artists, craftspeople and musicians - they are all small business people - the backbone of our Country. Please follow us on facebook (Lewiston Arts Council) for the latest information about our events. Applications for artists, music vendors & performers  for the 2020 Lewiston Art Festival can be downloaded here.

Lewiston Council on the Arts is proud to be a part of Arts Niagara an initiative of the Cultural Alliance of Niagara (CAN).   CAN is a member-powered collaborative that positions Niagara County's flourishing arts and cultural sector as a vital regional asset and visitor destination, essential to the region's economic success and quality of life. We encourage you to check out their website for listings of the programs and activities offered by the participating organizations.
Lewiston Council on the Arts is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all by nurturing a thriving environment for the arts and for cultural activities, promoting opportunities for artists, encouraging public participation in the arts, and actively advocating for the arts. We bring creative talent and public appreciation together to create an artistic identity for the beautiful and historic Village of Lewiston. Located in Upstate New York along the shore of the Niagara River, our proximity to Canada encourages the bi-national interchange of artists and performers and contributes to the abundant cultural richness of the Niagara region. Lewiston is a 90 minute drive from Toronto, Ontario, less than an hour from Buffalo, and minutes from Niagara Falls, NY. We hope you will experience and enjoy the quality cultural programs and activities we offer and facilitate throughout the County and know that we recognize your role in supporting our efforts in making this happen. The support of the community is key to our success and we thank the Town of Lewiston, the Village of Lewiston and our generous sponsors. Please make a tax-deductible donation to Lewiston Council on the Arts and help to support the arts in your own backyard!
