Welcome to Lewiston Council on the Arts
Applications can now be downloaded for the 2019 Lewiston Art Festival (August 10 & 11, 2019). We are looking for artists, musicians, vendors (food and merchandise) for our 53rd annual Festival. Deadline to apply is April 1, 2019.
Lewiston Council on the Arts is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all by nurturing a thriving environment for the arts and for cultural activities, promoting opportunities for artists, encouraging public participation in the arts, and actively advocating for the arts.
We bring creative talent and public appreciation together to create an artistic identity for the beautiful and historic Village of Lewiston. Located in Upstate New York along the shore of the Niagara River, our proximity to Canada encourages the bi-national interchange of artists and performers and contributes to the abundant cultural richness of the Niagara region. Lewiston is a 90 minute drive from Toronto, Ontario, less than an hour from Buffalo, and minutes from Niagara Falls, NY.
Beyond the obvious economic benefits, a community with a thriving arts and cultural life is a livable community. It makes people want to stay here, instills community pride, creates a sense of place and builds connections among people.
Americans for the Arts (AFA) is a national arts advocacy group whose mission is to serve, advance, and lead the network of organizations and individuals who cultivate, promote, sustain, and support the arts in America. Their latest survey included organizations as well as surveys of individuals attending events across WNY including the Lewiston Art Festival. The results from our participation show the arts are good for business! For the entire report, visit their website (www.AmericansfortheArts.org)
We hope you will experience and enjoy the quality cultural programs and activities we offer and facilitate throughout the County and know that we recognize your role in supporting our efforts in making this happen.
Please make a tax-deductible donation to Lewiston Council on the Arts and help to support the arts in your own backyard!
